Past Seminars

Here is the list of our past seminars:

Dmitri Petrov (Stanford). Biophysics seminar ENS-ESPCI

Friday 9 March 2018 from 13:00 to 14:00 - A1 (Urbain)

Barcoding Rapid Evolution

Although evolutionary change is often assumed to be slow, many of the
key problems facing humanity are problems of extremely rapid evolution
taking place over years, months, or even days. Cancer, viral and
bacterial diseases, antibiotic resistance, and even evolution in the
face of global change are all at least partly problems of rapid
evolution and rapid adaptation. In my lab we aim to quantify and
understand the dynamics of such rapid evolution using a range of
experimental systems. I will describe our work specifically using DNA
barcodes to arrive at granular quantification of dynamics of
adaptation in experimental evolution in yeast and a genetic mouse
model of lung cancer.
